Ginger (Shih-Ching) is an experienced Suzuki piano teacher and early years music educator.
Ginger's Music Fun offers independent baby and toddler music classes in Worcester Park and Surbiton, Surrey. Inspired by the world-renowned Suzuki music education method it combines oriental philosophy with European nursery rhymes and classical pieces and provide a healthy foundation for children to find enjoyment through music. The class involves singing, doing movements with classical music, circle songs, playing fun percussion instruments and more. Every two months, we do a special class with a mini concert at the end to allow young children hear live music performances.
I provide weekly music classes, piano group and individual lessons, birthday parties for children ages 1-5 years, nursery sessions, outreach concerts and music workshops. I run a Mandarin Chinese music class for preschoolers. Please click here for more information. People say the nicest things........"Over the years I have been to many music groups as both a nanny and mother. Ginger's classes are the best by far. I find her classes are always of a very high standard as she incorporates teaching basic music such as "major/minor" and all the notes (do re mi etc) whilst also including much loved nursery rhymes. Ginger has a wide selection of instruments (some very unusual) and also plays the flute during the class. We always look forward to the mini concerts where she plays piano for us! All the children and parents enjoy the lesson as it is set in such a friendly environment. " Allison T. (mum)
"I have been a nanny for many years and so have attended a lot of music classes so when I came to work in Worcester Park I knew another class was on the cards and that's when we came across Gingers music fun. The girls were 11 months when we started and they have grown to adore Ginger and her classes. Ginger is amazing with all the children in the class and with her range of music from nursery rhymes, classical and also mini concerts there is something for everyone. Me and the girls always come away singing something new she has taught us and they cannot wait for the next class." Claire R. (nanny)
Our son loves going to Ginger's music fun class and has been going there for 1.5 years now. Ginger is an extremely talented, classically trained and experienced music teacher and it shows in how she is able to include all children in the activities that goes along with rhymes and songs. Other people may overlook this aspect as their children are able to naturally join in but as a parent of a special needs child it has been a very important part of his developmental journey. She incorporates various actions into the songs that help infants/toddlers gain understanding of concepts as well as improve their motor skills also important for their developmental progression. She introduces various musical instruments and basic notes in a fun manner along with learning to listen to the beats. Every couple of months she organises a very much in demand mini concert that includes introducing children to classical music played on piano and flute. I remember the first concert, our son must have hugged Ginger 20 times if not more to express his pleasure. Need I say more!
